چکیده

An important problem in geometric reasoning is to find the configuration of a collection of geometric bodies so as to satisfy a set of given constraints. Recently, it has been suggested that this problem can be solved efficiently by symbolically reasoning about geometry using a degrees of f r e e d o m analysis. The approach employs a set of specialized routines called plan fragments that specify how to change the configuration of a set of bodies to satisfy a new constraint while preserving existing constraints. In this paper we show how these plan fragments can be automatically synthesized using first principles about geometric bodies, actions, and topology.

Solving Space Planning Problems Using Constraint Technology

Constraint programming techniques have proven their eeciency in solving high combinatory problems. In this paper, we study the adaptation , the extension and the limits of those techniques in the space planning problem which consists in nding the locations and the sizes of several objects under geometric constraints in a location space. For all that, we deene the formalism of Geometric Constrai...

Algebraic Geometry and Group Theory in Geometric Constraint Satisfaction

The determination of a set of geometric entities that satisfy a series of geometric relations (constraints) constitutes the Geometric Constraint Satisfaction or Scene Feasibility (GCS/SF) problem. This problem appears in diierent forms in Assembly Planning, Constraint Driven Design, Computer Vision, etc. Its solution is related to the existence of roots to systems of polynomial equations. Previ...

Integrating Constraint Satisfaction and Spatial Reasoning

Many problems in AI, including planning, logical reasoning and probabilistic inference, have been shown to reduce to (weighted) constraint satisfaction. While there are a number of approaches for solving such problems, the recent gains in efficiency of the satisfiability approach have made SAT solvers a popular choice. Modern propositional SAT solvers are efficient for a wide variety of problem...

Nogood Recording for Static and Dynamic Constraint Satisfaction Problems

Many AI synthesis problems such as planning, scheduling or design may be encoded in a constraint satisfaction problems (CSP). A CSP is typically defined as the problem of finding any consistent labeling for a fixed set of variables satisfying all given constraints between these variables. However, for many real tasks, the set of constraints to consider may evolve because of the environment or b...
